White Leather Jackets For Women
How to avoid buying a leather imitation
Leather is a trending garment that is loved and is a favourite for all leather lovers globally. The demand and supply for the jacket has increased significantly in the past few years. Genuine leather pieces are exclusive and expensive. Finding a good white leather jackets for women to buy can be difficult. In order to meet with the demand of the anything leather, some retailers have stocked up genuine, man-made and fake leather. Spotting the real thing from the not so real is not as easy as you may think.
Tshego Dipodi who owns a white leather jackets for women says she only found out her jacket wasn’t so genuine after she bought it. She bought a brown one because black is ‘dull and boring’. “This was the first leather jacket that I bought and I thought it was real. It is no longer in wearing condition,” she says. The jacket started falling apart, this is what made her realise that it is not real. “Before I knew it the whole thing was tattered and torn,” she says.
Most leather jackets that aren’t real pass off as authentic to the naked eye. Spotting a fake isn’t as easy as it used to be. This is true especially to a market that knows very little or nothing about the difference between 100% genuine leather jackets versus a knock-off. You may not be a leather expert but there are ways of being a savvy shopper and sifting through the good, the bad and the ugly of leather imitation.
Faux leather is man-made and it is designed to have the look and feel of real leather. It is less heavy than genuine leather and it is not as limiting as the animal leather is because dye can be added to it to turn it into different colours. Faux leather is not all bad as there are other types that offer a better quality than others.
Dipodi’s leather jacket was a bad quality because it fell apart. ‘I thought I knew the difference between real and fake leather. I only realised later that the knockoffs can fool you,” she says. Women are prone to buy knockoffs to men because the female species is easily swayed when it comes to looking good and getting their hands on the latest garments. So finding a white leather jackets for women that isn’t real is highly likely in stores.
Looking at the labels is a good place to start when spotting a knockoff. A jacket or leather item that is made of real leather will be mentioned in the label. If it says ‘man-made material’ then it is probably an imitation. Make an inspection of the edges of the garment. Real leather will have a rough-around-the-edges look whilst imitation leather will have a foamy or plastic texture to it.
Check the consistency of the fabric. Try to stretch out the material and examine the pores. A consistent pattern of the pores is only made by authentic leather. Smelling and touching the garment is a good way of spotting a fake garment.
A thorough and rigorous inspection is required in order to avoid falling for the leather imitation trap. It does seem like a tough task but it is worth it in the end.
